Who is That Calling My Name?

via
Another part of prayer is to listen. You can talk, but make sure you are listening for God.

Samuel 3:1-10
The Lord Calls Samuel
1 The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions. One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called Samuel.Samuel answered, “Here I am. And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”“My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.”Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealedto him.A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
Hannah couldn't have children, so she prayed that God would give her a child, and if He did, she would dedicate their life to God. He did, and Samuel was always told, "You have been called by God."

The problem is that others would always tell him that, but he never heard God's voice.
Samuel didn't know God's voice and didn't recognize it, until Eli recognized that God was calling Samuel.

Listen to Jesus and do God's will. Do not be afraid of your calling.  No one is born meaningless. Every individual matters. Sometimes, people chose just to exist and forget that life has meaning. You have a life to live. It is a beautiful thing.

God will equip you throughout your life, even if you feel broken or rejected. Sometimes you may wonder where God is during a difficult time, and may become angry with God. God uses our mistakes or things that happen in our life to make us closer to him.

God wants you to get to that place in life where you completely trust in Him. You don't need to know the details. God knows our heart and will give you a spiritual breakthrough. When you truly surrender, God will open doors that others many not understand. Step into the unknown.

The only tug/feeling will go away is if we completely shut Him out. Don't want to do that. A passion is what God instills in you. God doesn't want it to be made harder on Him by you not wanting to listen. Our gifts and passions are from God.

Do not dwell on what others think. What only matters is what God thinks. God may have been even calling you for a while, even if you have been at church for a long time. Samuel was called several times before he answered.

Who are you listening to?
Do you know God?
Are you ready?
Is there an Eli seeing things that you don't see yourself?
Are you willing to be used by God in whatever manner God needs and wants you to be?
