Dr. Carson Book Tour

A friend invited Travis and I to the Ben Carson One Nation Book Tour in our area. Travis really wanted to go because he likes Ben Carson, but he got out of work later than expected so was unable to make it. I invited my friend, Caroline, with me because she is a fan of Dr. Carson and has even seen him speak last year.

We were pretty excited because who knows... he may become our next President if he decides to run.

We picked up his book One Nation and waited patiently in line. {I was actually surprised that the line moved pretty quickly with how many people were there}.

Then it was time. I shook Ben Carson's hand!

So this is not exactly how I imagined my picture with the maybe-next-president-of-the-United-States. After all, I look like a cheese ball, but hey, never the less, I have a picture with him.

And now I have a book to read with his autograph. {I was planning on taking it to us on vacation to read on the beach, but I didn't want the sand to ruin it}.

Afterwards, we took some pictures next to Ben Carson's tour bus (because we're dorks like that).

On the side of his bus it reads:
"What we can all do to save America's future"
All in all, I am excited to read his book.

This & That

I feel like I haven't posted in YEARS! Okay, so it's only been a little bit of time, but still. I have a lot of things to post, but I've been busy and a little lazy at the same time, so it'll come sooner than later :)

*Some good friends invited us to Myrtle Beach in June, so we ended up going, we LOVED it :) It was so nice to relax and not have to worry about anything.

*I'm so excited to tell you that my photography business is doing GREAT! I feel like I will be busy for a while. I have cut back editing photos on the weekend though to spend more time with Trav since we don't have that much time together. AND.. I downloaded the trial of Lightroom 5. At first I hated it because it takes so darn long on trying to figure out how to even work it, but then, my pictures looks so much better than if I were to edit them with the other editor {so I'm pretty sure that I am going to get it since I have been saving up}. Hence:
{You can see more photos at Lilley Pad Photography}

*After vacation, I did a photoshoot of the one posted above. Well, behold, I got poison ivy. That was uh, fun, I guess you could say. And because I was scared that it was spread from sweat, I took a little break from running. I finally got into it back today and I am trying to run three miles most of the time. It feels good to run again. {P.S. never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I would say that}. Oh, and Trav let me get some new running clothes. I think he felt bad that I was always complaining about how hot it was.

*I signed up for my first 5k race. I am so excited because I have always wanted to do the color run because if you look at the pictures, it looks like so much fun. I am actually going to be walking it though. Say what?! That is because I am doing it with my best friend and she would have just had a baby. My first running 5k I am planning on doing with Trav.
*We have been able to cross some of the things we wanted to do off our summer bucket list
*Trav is now a SENIOR!!!! I'm doing a happy dance as I write this (in my head of course because you can't dance and type at the same time). LOL.
*Although Trav made it to join the Army Reserve, it is full of CRNA's. They told us that he would be able to get in Oct, than they called and said that it would now be November. So we're just waiting.

{Fur} Babies:

*Travis killed a HUGE spider the other day in our house after we got back from vacation. We think it was in the house for a while because Jax hissed at something prior to us going on vacation by our laundry room. Jax never hisses and because we couldn't move the washer and dryer, we didn't see anything. Then one day we saw Payson looking at something in the middle of the night. We turned on the light, and there it was. You guys, I'm not joking, it was MASSIVE and it had such a thick body. It probably didn't help that I screamed and ran away after seeing it. But afterwards, Jax has been so content {I think he missed us while we were gone, and he especially likes loving up on daddy}
Gracie is still hiding from the whole spider incident.
*I caught Tatum checking himself in the mirror {he does that time to time because he knows he is hot stuff}, and as soon as I pulled my camera, I found Gracie checking out herself as well. Trig is just in the background, doing his own thing. LOL. Good thing Tatum can't take selfies - we'd be in trouble. Ha.

*The dogs are just so darn cute! Gracie LOVES her brothers.

*We've been watching our friend's dog, Callie.

*Callie and Trig decided that since the front door opened because Trav came home that it was apparently OKAY to run out the door and have Dad and friend, Andy, chase them all around the neighborhoods.
*Well poor Trig came back with his foot bleeding and some of his padding on his other feet pretty banged up, where he is now wearing booties. It first started out like this:

Tatum feels so bad for little Trig.

Poor Trig. He now has booties that we had in our stash of dog clothes {who said that dog clothes don't come in handy?} Hopefully though, that will teach him a lesson.
