At church today, the pastor gave us some "homework" which including going home and reading a couple of bible verses a day to find out where exactly God wants us in life to take this journey. We will be having another church site that is intended to reach non-believers. God is taking our church in one direction, to reach those who have never felt God's presence before. Everyone is precious to God and everyone deserves to know him. We want to know where we should go from here. There are some questions that are asked. Do we need to pray? Do we need to help? Do we need to give?
The pastor wanted us to read these verses:
*2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
*Luke 9:23 - Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."
*Luke 15:4-7 - Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, "Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep." I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who does not need to repent.
Also, we listened as he read a biography about Nicky Cruz (true story), some might know him by "Run Baby Run". You can learn more about Nicky here.
Although I'm not sure where God wants me to do with praying/volunteering/etc for the new church.
I do know that God wants me to help children. Children like Nicky, never felt what love was like. Every child deserves love. There is no child that is unloveable.
Travis and I know pray that God will lead us to the right direction on what he wants us to do. We believe that God will want us to take some mission trips and help people from other countries. I also believe that God wants us to perhaps adopt/foster.
We will see where our calling lands, once Trav graduates. Whenever we settle, we do want to make plans on adoption/fostering kids that might be in need. It may be across the world or maybe perhaps within the same state, but wherever he takes us, we will follow.
Please pray for us for guidance and direction for us, the church, and others all over the world.
