Apache Trail (Photo Overload)

This weekend we discovered the Apache Trail. It was breathtaking, and if you haven't been on it then you don't know what you're missing. People have said that it has taken them seven hours to ride on the whole trail because there are so many scenic views that you stop all the time. It took us four hours, because we were only able to go up half way because of floods the roads were washed out. So we made more stops.

First we stopped in a little mining town and picked up some goodies.

And I fell for the "Rattersnake egg" story. Don't fall for it. Otherwise this is what will happen.

We walked on a little trail. A woman who was walking the trail, was scared to death of Tatum, exclaiming that "she was allergic to a dog", and because Tatum was on the sidewalk, instead of getting off the sidewalk, or have us wait for her to pass, she acted like it was a walked slowly, turning her back to Tatum. How awkward did she look being scared of a little "Pit Bull".

We stopped at Canyon Lake. This has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We made our way to Tortilla Flat.

Trav and I shared some Prickly Pear Ice Cream which is made from the fruit of the cactus. It is only served in Tortilla Flat. It is amazing - it is a MUST try!

We drove a little further and watched the sunset. Even did some rough roadin'.

Afterwards, we went to see our friends, Rachel and Chris to have dinner with them. It was a great night.

Have you been to the Apache Trail?

  1. OMGGGGG That trip looked amazing! I am dying to get out of the city and see some REAL nature. Like really, if I could quit I would move to Oregon or Washington State in a heartbeat. Those pics were fab!

  2. I LOVE this post so much, what a beautiful place!! I love Arizona for exactly this reason - you can drive 45 minutes out of down and be in a whole other world. I love the pic of you and Trav kissing :)
